Take a Bow

My little girl's hair is so fun to play with and "accessorize", and I've been creating new clips for her, so you can imagine we have a rather large collection of bows, clippies, hair things, etc. It's hard to rummage through a basket or jar every morning when looking for a specific clip or color to match her outfit, so I've been wanting to make a hair clip holder for a while. It was easy peasy. I just bought this wall decoration at Hobby Lobby (aka hobby hobby if you ask the little one)--and yes it was 50 % off-- and hot glued some ribbon to it. Can't get much easier :)

My photography and lighting skills leave much to be desired, but you get the picture, right?

Before and After Living Room

Alright...here are the before and after pictures of our living room--only remember that this is only showcasing the color, not the room itself. Because it obviously needs more attention. Like things on the walls. And furniture. We still need to get a couch. Just keep that in mind--> this is not the final product!

We liked the previous color when we toured the house, and then right when we moved in.....but over time, it started feeling like a DUNGEON (maybe that's because I laid and stared at the walls for 7 weeks straight while I was in my first trimester, feeling sick and horrible). We needed something bright and cheerful; we both agreed that we loved the color of our living room in our old place in CA, so we tried to find a close match.

Very bright.

Cozy and cheerful. Okay, my first thought was "Whoa, too bright!", but then I really started to like it, and when the room is a bit more occupied (furniture and deco), I think it'll tone it down a little. We are happy with it (how can you not be happy in such a cheerful, sunshiney room?!). :)

Thrifting

Yesterday and today, my lil'sidekick and I went thrifting....garage sales, thrift stores, etc. We had fun! Only got a few little things for her, but the hunt is the best part! And we went to a huge old farmhouse with antiques, and bought a chair and a red-checkered apron! Maybe I'll post some pics next time :)

A house without books is like a room without windows

Like her Mama and Daddy, our girl loves to read. Oh, and she likes to look at the pictures too :)

By mid-day, there are usually dozens of books strewn around the house. A good opportunity for our little one to learn to clean up at the end of the day :)

Yes, that is the old living room wall color in the background of these pictures...Photos to follow of the new and improved, HAPPY wall color!! :)

Orange Julius

Mmmmmm.....I found a recipe to make a yummy, homemade orange julius (and it really tastes like the real thing!)

3 oz orange juice concentrate (I used about one-third cup of the frozen kind)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup sugar (you could probably use less since the concentrate is so sweet)
1/2 tsp vanilla
5-6 ice cubes (I used a lot more because I like more of a smoothie rather than a drink)

Blend all ingredients on high until smooth....Enjoy!

Spring is coming!

Yesterday after church, our little family went on a walk along the river at Georgia's State Botanical Gardens right here in Athens. The gardens and grounds are mostly brown and looking like they're hibernating right now, but we are excited to see them in the next few weeks/months as beautiful flowers and trees begin to bloom!

What's in a name?

Okay, every post so far has been about my little one, but what do you expect?! I stay at home with her EVERY day; she is my main focus- hello?! So here are some nicknames we have given our little princess:

Little doll (as if you couldn't tell from previous posts)
 Littles
 Dolly (noticing a theme here??)
 Cutest cutenesses of cutes  :)
and any other general terms of endearment that come to mind....

Oh! I almost forgot one....Warrior Princess...

just kidding...that's for those of you who are familiar with the origin of our true-life princess' name :)
